Get ready to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of “Doctor Who” with a couple of upcoming releases

This year sees the 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who, and you can get your pre-order placed for a couple of essential Blu-ray releases heading our way.

First up is a box set featuring all seven seasons of the ‘rebooted’ series, with seasons 1 – 4 getting their Blu-ray debut. To my knowledge these early season were’t actually filmed in HD, so while they will be presented in 1080p, the quality will be likely more akin to up-scaled DVD, rather than true HD. Still better than nothing though!

It’s unclear at this stage if this set will include the on-disc and nifty packaging extras that the upcoming US release will have, but fingers crossed!

Next up, yo-u can also now pre-order the eagerly awaited 50th Anniversary special, The Day of The Doctor, which stars Matt Smith and David Tennant, alongside the legendary John Hurt as the mysterious ‘dark’ Doctor. Again, there are no details on extras yet, but given the high profile I would expect a decent amount to be included.

As soon as we have more info on both these releases, we’ll update!
