Finally answering that age-old question – what if Superman grew up to be a proper little shitbag – Brightburn looks like a great twist on the superhero genre.

And with James Gunn on board as producer, along with writers Brian Gunn and Mark Gunn (James’s brother and cousin, respectively), there should be lots to like.

Zavvi are bringing us the UK steelbook, which will include the movie on 4K and Blu-ray discs.

Release and final art are still TBC, but pre-orders will be live from around 9am UK on June 19th, so ignore the ‘sold out’ notice before then.

Pre-order: Zavvi

What if a child from another world crash-landed on Earth, but instead of becoming a hero to mankind, he proved to be something far more sinister? With Brightburn, James Gunn, the visionary filmmaker of Guardians of the Galaxy and Slither presents a startling, subversive take on a radical new genre: superhero horror.

  1. Any news on the X-Men Dark Phoenix amazon steelbook? I had it pre-ordered and then got an email saying it was delayed until December.

Today I got another email saying there was no release date and Amazon are sorry for the inconvenience.

  2. Finally. Loved this movie.

I would guess this will be in the £29.99 price bracket, and the only question I have, is why? It doesn’t cost any more to produce than a bog standard Blu-Ray, and yet a premium of £5 – £10 is always tagged on.

    • Daniel Hortop says:

Because it’s a 4K edition that’s why its £29.99 and 4k is still pretty new to the film market…

    • Paul Boland says:

4K UHD discs cost lot more than it does to make Blu-ray Discs

This is one of the reasons why independent distributors not doing 4K UHD yet along with sales of UHD discs is tiny compared to Blu-ray and DVD

      Year end 2018 global market
      DVD Discs sales was 57%
      UHD discs 5.3%

      DVD still outsells Blu-ray

For price to drop a lot distributors need a big increase of UHD discs sold

Streaming/On Demand makes more revenue than Physical Discs

  4. Another Overpriced 4k steelbook
