First released in late 2020, the Lord of The Rings 4K trilogy steelbook release was a sell-out smash hit, proving so popular that Warner Bros will be re-issuing the set in March, so if you missed out the first time round now’s your chance to grab a copy (and give the finger to those eBay scalpers).

As a reminder, the set includes both the Theatrical and Extended Cuts of all three films (with the Extended Cuts across 2 discs each), but other than that these will be bare bones 4K-only releases (no Blu-rays included). All three films are newly remastered in 4K, with stunning Dolby Atmos audio.

Warners are planning a much more extravagant 4K Middle-earth Ultimate Collectors’ Edition featuring both versions of all six films, along with new bonus content, the existing Blu-ray discs of The Hobbit Trilogy, and newly remastered Blu-ray discs of The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, for release later in 2021, so if extras are your thing, that’s worth knowing.

Pre-orders will be live at Zavvi around 6pm on Wednesday January 13th. This isn’t listed as an exclusive, so we’ll add more links as we get them..

From director Peter Jackson, rediscover the stunning locations and epic adventures in the greatest film saga of all time. The critically acclaimed series of six films encompasses The Hobbit™ and The Lord of the Rings™ trilogies and tells the mythic tales of an ancient world called Middle-earth™: A world of Elves, Dwarves, Wizards, Humans and Hobbits in a constant struggle against the evil forces of the Dark Lord Sauron and his army of Goblins and Orcs – a world of quests, Dragons, treasures and a legendary final battle for the future of Middle-earth™ itself.

The adventure continues with THE LORD OF THE RINGS™ trilogy when, with the help of the Fellowship of the Ring, Bilbo Baggins’s nephew, Frodo, embarks on a perilous mission to destroy the One Ring™ and defeat the Dark Lord Sauron and his forces. Soon, the Fellowship is broken, and while the other members fight off the evil spreading through Middle-earth™, Frodo and his friend Samwise must continue their dangerous mission, with a guide they cannot trust, toward the fires of Mount Doom as the final battle for Middle-earth™ begins.

Ian Michael maybe I’m just biased, but the quality of the casing and the artwork compensating for the fact that you’re getting the 4K releases of three movies doesn’t seem that expensive to me. 30 quid per movie and then a tenner for the casing. Sounds about right to me.
