Monty Python’s Fliegender Zirkus (Monty Python’s Flying Circus) consisted of two 45-minute Monty Python German television comedy episodes produced by WDR for West German television. The two episodes were first broadcast in January and December 1972 and were shot entirely on film and mostly on location in Bavaria, with the first episode recorded in German and the second recorded in English and then dubbed into German. These shows have been upgraded to high definition after extensive restoration from the original source material by Jonathan Wood, overseen by Terry Gilliam.

The two shows feature classic songs and sketches, including The Lumberjack Song and Silly Olympics, and Terry Gilliam’s magnificent animations, with never-before available bonus features including Monty Python doing the Fish-Slapping Dance on a 1971 German entertainment programme Euroshow; as well as Monty Python’s Montreux Special (1971) – unseen for nearly thirty years, this collection of sketches from the first two series showcases some newly performed exclusively for this special. Experience a fresh take on The Gascooker sketch and Blackmail amongst others, as well as The Ministry of Silly Walks, and the Exploding Version of ’The Blue Danube’.
