Despite never being a hit with critics, the Transformers series has proven itself to be box office gold, with a fifth installment now with us.

HMV have grabbed the UK exclusive steelbook release, which will include 2D & 3D versions of the movie.

Release date and final art are still TBC (hopefully it’ll match the recent Zavvi releases of the first four), but pre-orders are live right now.

Transformers – The Last Knight (hmv Exclusive) Limited Edition Steelbook Includes 2D and 3D

Directed by Michael Bay and starring Mark Wahlberg, Anthony Hopkins and Josh Duhamel, this sci-fi action adventure is the fifth instalment in the film series based on the 1980s cartoons. With the battle between the human race and the Transformers raging on, mechanic and single parent Cade Yeager (Wahlberg) forms an alliance with English Lord Sir Edmund Burton (Hopkins) in an attempt to figure out why the Transformers keep returning to Earth. Meanwhile, Autobots leader Optimus Prime (voice of Peter Cullen) learns he was responsible for the death of his home world Cybertron. Desperate to make amends, he returns to Earth in search of a mysterious artefact which could bring Cybertron back to life and will seemingly do anything to achieve his goal. The cast also includes Laura Haddock, Stanley Tucci, Isabela Moner and Tyrese Gibson.

Shame it probably won’t match the new Zavvi set for the last four films – wonder if that will get a separate release.

I just hope ZAVVI will also get to release ”The Last Knight” and match the steel design of the previous 4.

  8. I don’t understand all the hate for the Transformers movies. There is a reason why the critics hate it and the box office/public love it. It’s because critics are mindless idiots looking to fill tick boxes for a pre-determined formula that they assume makes a good movie. ACTUAL viewers just want to be entertained and every single one of the transformers films dishes that out by the bucket load. Look at that absolute crap La La Land that won all the critics awards and yet I’m still to find a single person who thinks it is good. Everyone I speak to says it’s a boring pile of incoherent dribble. But the “critics” like it so it must be good right? WRONG!

      Totally agree with you.
Personally I look for entertainment factor, how the colors and sound pops out.
There are so many different attributes to the movie.
If someone wants to watch documentary or ER series they can do so on the crappy iPod or PC.
However movies like Transformers, Pacific Rim (just to name a few) are eye and ears candy and deserve a proper home cinema set up.
From me they get 5 starts for visual and sound FX.
Got my 4K The last knight from Zavvi (again lets hope they match the design of the previous 4)
